Two tiny pauper’s houses have slumbered in a gravel pit in the middle of Schwabing for 180 years. They slept through the rise of the village to a district, survived the war and were overlooked by gentrification. The power of the brokers does not apply here, because they belong to the municipality. One of them has recently been mostly empty. So far used privately, it is time to open up the small but very complex premises with the enchanted garden to the district. They are charmingly unrenovated and bear the traces of the deceased resident. An apartment for one should become a place for everyone. A space without compulsion to consume, for retreat and stimulation, exchange and publicity. The perfect location in a public square invites you to do so. The task is to leave the shell essentially unchanged, but to design the interior freely. The interventions are thus on the scale of furniture construction. Develop a spatial concept, think about materials and joining techniques and plan it down to the last detail.
